Blockchain-based publishing technology PUBLISH has been awarded a patent by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) for a blockchain-based fact-checking system.

The patent describes a method for fact-checking, searching, and managing content on the blockchain to address the issue of misinformation, which is often shared via social media platforms and private messaging channels.

Specifically, the solution involves uploading news content to a factchecking platform where users are incentivised in tokens to factcheck the content. The content is then hashed and published on a distributed ledger along with the factchecking scores.

PUBLISH applied for the patent on 27 September 2019, and KIPO awarded the patent on 27 July 2020.
